“What does ‘seeing’ feel like?” This is the question posed by a group of visually impaired children as they explore a video camera with their hands, trying to understand what “filming” is all about. Vision of Darkness takes the audiences into the lives of these children. In their world, being able to “see” is strange and incomprehensible. One young boy uses different tastes to understand the world – “apartments are sour, high rise buildings are bitter, etc.” Their thoughts and curiosity give this documentary a surprising philosophical depth, opening the eyes of the viewer to the limits, and strengths, these children share.
