This coming-of-age tale begins when two very different elementary school boys, the rebellious Shane and the studious Jonathan, are paired up during a class exercise. An unlikely but close friendship forms between them. However, complications arise with the arrival of Carrie during their senior year in high school: Carrie falls for Jonathan but realizes that her feelings are not returned; instead Jonathan's romantic interest lies with Shane. A love triangle develops when Carrie then turns to Shane for affection, causing an explosion of pent-up longings.
